CART Racing Versus NASCAR Racing You Deicide
             Auto racing has changed a great deal over the last 20 years, but the one thing that has not changed is the speed. Racing has been in my blood a long time. My father-in-law got me interested in it about 14 years ago. Since then, I have been to 20 races and watched it on TV ever week. I enjoy watching NASCAR because of the excitement. CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams), formerly known as Indy Car Racing. CART racing to me seems a bit boring. There are some differences between the two, but they do have a lot of similarities.
             NASCAR and CART racing both start and stop about the same time of year. NASCAR starts in February and CART starts in March, both end in November. In NASCAR there are 34 races a year, all of them are in the United States. On the other hand, only 20 races in cart with nine of them outside the U.S.
             The drivers, in CART there are only 20 cars on the track and the all of the drivers are about 25-30 years with some exception. On the other hand NASCAR there are over 45 cars competing for one of 43 spots on the track. The drivers' ages range from 23 to 60 years old. In NASCAR age is not a factor.
             The differences in the cars are significant CART uses engines provided by Ford, Honda and Toyota. These tiny engines are 2.65-liter overhead-cam turbocharged 4 cycled producing approximately 900 horsepower at 16,000 rpms. Teams lease their engines from the manufacturers, who maintain them with a team of their own technicians at the track and in their factories. Specific details of the engines are tightly guarded secrets. The bodies are made of carbon fiber and have open wheels.
