             Mary Robinson was born in the Bristol on November 27, 1758. She was the third child of five. Her father was John Durby and her mother was Hestor. Throughout her childhood, her father's financial support was infrequent, reflecting both his failures as a businessman and his lack of interest in his wife and family. Mary Robinson had a very tuff life, living from lover to lover as a way to support her and her child. She married twice and in between the last marriage had a miscarriage, which left her paralyzed from the legs down. In 1775, her first volume of poems came out, which was followed by two more in 1791 to 1793. Her poems in 1793 finely confirmed her success as a respected writer. One of many poems Robinson wrote was "The Haunted Beach", which came out of the Lyrical Tales series. This poem tells of a fisherman and his extreme emotional attachments to one section of an ocean beach were he stabbed to death a British soldier.
