A Methadone Clinic is a drug rehabilitation center that uses the synthetically
made drug methadone to help drug addicts quit. Methadone is designed to suppress
withdrawal symptoms from opiates, including heroin, prescription drugs, painkillers,
and cough suppressants. So this all sounds like a good idea, right? Well, the
answer to that question has become a very popular and controversial issue over
On one hand of this issue, these centers could be very beneficial to people
who are addicted to such drugs and they may even live a better life from being
rehabilitated in them. But on the other hand, who do you know that wants a heroin
addict walking around their own neighborhood?
Where are these addicts getting the money to pay for the rehabilitation
though? They obviously don't have much money, because most goes to the opiates
that they're addicted to. So you are basically paying for their mistakes and their bad
judgement. Does that sound fair? Should your hard earned tax dollars be funding
people who are idiotic enough to do such a thing? Well, in my opinion, definately not.
Another big contraversy is where the next Methadone Clinic is going to be
built. What if it is right down the street from you? Better yet, what if it's in your own
neighborhood? Let's say that you live in a safe neighborhood, surrounded by friends
and family that you know and trust. Your children love to play outside with all of their
little friends who live nearby. Would you want them playing on the same streets on
