c circles. Being indifferent is generally thought of has being neutral or unconcerned. When applied to economic reasoning, this concept carries confusing contradictions. If a person is indifferent as to whether they buy an apple or an orange, then why do they end up buying the orange? The Austrian approach is to say that indifference has no place in human action. The Austrians agree that indifference has a meaning in a basic sense, but in terms of action the very fact that a person acts on behalf of one item and not the other demonstrates that by some preference (placement, unconscious preference) they chose one over the other.
