The right of the people to keep and bear arms should not be infringed because all intended uses of guns are not all the same. Gun control laws should be made stricter because there is a possibility that this might limit an individual's right to own a gun, and the Second Amendment of the U.S Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms for all American citizens.              The Second Amendment of the U.S Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to keep and bear arms. Our founding fathers fought and died for our right to keep and bear arms. If gun laws are made harsher, there is a possibility that some Americans will be denied this right, therefore, violating a basic constitutional right.
             Guns seem to help prevent burglaries. In recent studies involving interviews with felons, it was found that one of the reasons that the majority of burglars try to avoid breaking into occupied home is the chance of getting shot, and the increasing odds of getting caught and arrested. If gun laws are made stricter, there will still be un-law-abiding citizens who steal and smuggle guns therefore leaving us law-abiding citizens defenseless in the event of a burglary.
             A gun is an effective way of self-defense. When Florida St. University's criminologist Gary Kleck studied records from the Dept. of justice, he found that victims who defended themselves with a gun in the event of a robbery or an assault had a smaller chance of injury or having the crime completed successfully; whereas doing nothing, trying to escape, and physically resisting, all had a higher chance of injury or completion of the crime.
