To Kill a Mockingbird

             Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird contains many characters. They are all very interesting and have specific tasks in the novel, but not many of them change and develop as you read. Boo(Arthur)Radley is a character in this novel, that at first, starts out as a monster. He is portrayed as a violent, crazy man who does odd things and would be a hazard to society. But as you further your reading, you find out that he is not a monster. He is just a misunderstood person whom society has made unfair judgments about. Boo Radley is a significant changing character in Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
             As we start the novel, We are given a clear picture as to how the town of Maycomb views Boo Radley. He is described as a man who had made one mistake but seemed to pay for it the rest of his life. When he was a teen, he became involved with the wrong crowd and was part of " the nearest thing to a gang ever seen in Maycomb"(Lee10). They frequently did things that the town did not approve of, but this is the event that shapes a picture of Boo when you begin reading.
             One night, in an excessive spurt of high spirits, the boys backed around the square in a borrowed flivver, resisted arrest by Maycomb's ancient beadle, Mr. Conner, and locked him in the courthouse outhouse.(Lee10)
             Now this was not a light crime and Boo and the others were punished appropriately, but Mr. Radley didn't agree with the judge and felt the need to take matters into his own hands. He told the judge that " If the judge released Arthur, Mr. Radley would see to it that Arthur gave no further trouble"(Lee10). From then on Boo wasn't seen for fifteen years and everyone in town decided not to make it there business why.
