During this time the actors are continually scoffing at the idea that these strangers are needed to show them how to do their job. When the leading man and leading lady put on their masks and try to reenact the seen they have just witnessed the characters laugh at them because it seems so unrealistic.
             The third act of the play entails a script that can not be provided with the current resources of the stage so the manager begins to alter the scene as slightly as possible due to the characters protest of any altering in the first place. The scene takes place outside the father's house in the garden. The manager here finally comes to somewhat of an understanding that the characters are not real people at all and have absolutely no idea of what is going on outside of what they have been created to understand.
