             The essays I have chosen to discuss the shared and major areas of disagreements of educational objectives are: Paul Woodruff's essay, Socratic Education; Frederick C. Beiser's essay, A Romantic Education; Amelie Oksenberg Rorty's essay, Rousseau's Educational Experiments; and William Galston's essay, Civic Education in The Liberal State. The objectives to be discussed are civic education and who is responsible for teaching civic education.
             Paul Woodruff's essay, Socratic Education, gives three prominent features of Socratic education that are illustrated in Plato's work:
             1. An emphasis on critical and consistent thinking;
             2. A unique concept of teacher less education, contrasted with teaching both as it occurs in Athens and as it would occur in ideal circumstances;
             3. The hope that education in philosophy has the potential to transform people's lives for the better.
