The Birds, and Event Horizon: Two movies of the same "horror" genre, but they both scare you in completely different ways. The Birds is a thriller released in 1963, which uses little or no special effects to horr you to a sinister stupor. Event Horizon is a film made in the Twentieth century that uses all of the computers and technology to depict the outer reaches of space to frighten you to a withered, shacking pulp. With time the horror genre of movies evolved with the help of technology and society's morals fading in the sunset of life.
             If I am going to start off with The Birds, lets just get a few things straight. Take into consideration that it was made in 1963 and the film industry standards where different than now. They used different and unique camera angles to get their point across. In the futuristic time of the present they use special effects more than just plain camera angles to manipulate the movie scenes. Some of the special effects used in The Birds are more silly than scary. The effects are so silly probably because the movie was made so long ago. That is just my opinion, and it is just an opinion because I was not alive to see the effects of the movie when it was originally released.
             The special effects used in Event Horizon are so awesome that the artist's who did them made it seem like you were really in space, floating in front of the big bluish-green planet of Neptune. That's not even the start of the overwhelming gore filled scenes in the movie. The movie reflects hints of other movies such as Aliens, Hellraiser, and The Shining. The reason I picked Aliens is because the whole movie is set in space and the cast and crew are stuck on the ship with no way off. As in Hellraiser there are some grotesque scenes of hellish type murder and torture to make you cringe with fear. The whole movie was kind of like the Shining.
