My Brief Writing Days (On What Prompts People to Write?)
I don't know what inspired me to contribute lately some write-ups in the newspaper? Is it because of a terrible ennui I feel in my life nowadays? So to fill up the gaps in my life I have to write.
Is it therapy for a tired and overused mind, after hurdling patiently his masteral in Food Service Administration in UP while at the same time eking a living?
Or is it because of some self-actualization thing, as Maslow would put it?
Or is it because of former research teacher who once said, ".... You guys have your works published...."?
Or is it because when you teach students [which I am currently doing now] – you see yourself struggling to reach out to other people and help them or share a piece of your life to them?
I never will know why! Probably, it is the creation and the sharing things in life....
I remember, my mind suddenly becoming so fluid while writing. An almost indescribable feeling wherein you forget about time and just tapped at the computer keyboards without pause and soon afterwards you felt as though you breathe life into something and you want to share it with everybody.
Maybe, people write also because they want to share something of themselves and make other people a part of their own world.
Maybe, as in the article entitled, Good Name by Fred Hartley, "Deep in the soul of every man is the desire to leave behind a good name...A good name doesn't grow on trees and it is not for sale at any price. It is held out to each of us ---ours for the taking – as long as we are willing to pay the price." Maybe, that is why I write.
