Daughter of Fortune vs. Captain Corelli

             The book Daughter of Fortune and in the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin both leading ladies,
             Eliza Sommers in daughter of fortune and Pelagia in Captain Corelli's Mandolin must go though
             many obstacles to find love and experience passion.
             Throughout the novel Eliza has to go through many obstacles before finding love, like in Captain
             Corelli's Mandolin Pelagia must accomplish obstacles as well before she allows and accepts to
             In the novel Eliza falls in "love at first site" with Joaquin Andieta, a steamy love affair showing
             strong emotions of passion. When Joaquin leaves to seek his fortune in California, Eliza foolish in
             love goes to follow him. The first obstacle is finding Joaquin. " She has a fixation on love. Strong
             trouble. That girl left her window open one clear night and it crawled into her body while she was
             asleep. There's no spell that can cure it". Pg 94. Mama Fresia is trying to console Miss rose after
             Eliza leaves to follow Joaquin. Once Eliza arrives in California with Tao Chi'en, upon her arrival
             Eliza searches high and low asking people if they have seen her "brother" Eliza even disguises
             herself as a man just to find her love, Joaquin.
             In Captain Corelli's Mandolin Pelagia's character mirror's Eliza in a sense. Pelagia has many
             obstacles as well, not trying to find a true love, but learning to love again. In the movie Pelagia is
             of Greek decent and thinks she has found love with her first love Mandras. Without getting
             married Mandras leaves for war, and Pelagia is left waiting. In the meantime Captain Corelli an
             Italian solider is sent to Greece with his fleet of men to fight the war. This is when Captain Corelli
