This article was written by Rick Reilly of Sport's Illustrated magazine, dated back to April 24, 2001. After reviewing this article I intend on explaining why the author is so upset throughout the article and his views on Canadians as a whole. Throughout the entire article the author repeatedly takes cheap shots at Canadian fans for what transpired in last years playoff series. He is clearly upset with the way Canadians boo-ed the American national anthem before two playoff series last season. He says, "Vancouver fans boo-ed The Star-Spangled Banner before two home playoff games against the Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton Oiler fans boo-ed it before three home games against the Dallas Stars. Hey, Roseanne wasn't even singin' it!"
             Throughout the entire article all the author does is humiliate Canadians and put them down. His explanation for the reason the fans were booing was because "You're sore at how we're whippin you at your game." He even goes to the extent to say, "This is war." The article outlines the competition that there has always been between the U.S.A and Canada.
             Personally, I can see why the author is so upset, I'm sure if people in the U.S.A boo-ed our national anthem we would be very upset also. An excellent example was when the Toronto Blue Jays played the Atlanta Braves for the World Championship in baseball. Before the game started, our flag was carried out upside down. Everyone throughout Canada was going ballistic over that. This rivalry between our two countries has been going on for as long as I can remember.
             What I don't agree with though, is how the author is going about the article. He seems to be acting childish with all of the name-calling. Although I don't agree with the booing of their national anthem, things like this always happen when emotions run high, especially during the playoffs.
