Many young Americans feel the need to be accepted by their peers. People change their clothing style, the manner in which they converse, and the people whom they associate themselves with, just to 'fit-in.' This social problem has deprived many young Americans of their individuality and the social skills needed to function. A overwhelming amount of young people are obsessed with fitting into some kind of 'clique.' Insecurities plague the minds of our youth; being an individual would make them feel comfortable within themselves. I encourage everyone to step outside there 'clique' and be a real person.
             Young people keep the clothing industry alive; they know that kids will buy their clothes know matter how ridiculous they may look in them. Every social 'clique' has a style of clothing that they wear; this makes them 'unique.' I do not see people as 'unique' when there are twenty of them dressed in clothes exactly alike with different colors. An obsession with the way they wear their clothes is a senseless waste of time, effort, and money. People will always feel the need to be accepted but they sacrifice their God given right to be different.
             People will go to great lengths to fit into their new 'cliques.' Some people feel the need to change the way they converse with each other to make themselves different. I do not see how emulating someone else's speech pattern makes you different; this would indicate to me that a person was insecure and was unable to function within his own personality. Many think that changing the way they speak makes them look tough; you cannot change who you are by talking differently.
             A friend is a person who genuinely cares about you; people that hang around you because they like the way you dress or because of some other superficial thing are not real friends. The need for good friends is paramount; friends...
