Galileo

Galileo Galilee was born in the Renaissance time. He was born near Pisa, Italy on February 15, 1564 and died on January 8, 1642 in Arcetr. He was educated at the University of Pisa. Galileo was a mathematics teacher and a scientist. He accomplished much in his lifetime.
Galileo went to the University of Pisa for four years. He focused on medical studies. Galileo's father, Vincenzo Galilee wanted him to be a doctor; Galileo did not. In 1585, Galileo didn't want to study to be a doctor any longer. He persuaded his father to let him leave the university. Galileo was more interested in mathematics, than medicine. He showed determination by knowing what he wanted to do with his life.
During the four years Galileo was being tutored in mathematics, he questioned scientific thought and Aristotle's philosophy. While Galileo was being tutored he also questioned hydrostatic balance. In 1589 Galileo was appointed a mathematics professor at the University of Pudua. There he spent the next 18 years of his life. Galileo wasn't the kind of person afraid to ask questions. He was truly a risk taker.
In 1633 Galileo was imprisoned for life for "Vehement suspicion of heresy."
While he was in prison he wrote a couple of books. The first one, which was banned by the church, was published in 1637, it was called, The Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief System. His next book was published one year later. The church also banned it. It was named, The Discourse On Two New Sciences. These books were banned because they disagreed with what the church taught. That showed his expertise, and intelligence.
Galileo was indeed a hero of the Renaissance. He built a telescope stronger than ever. He built it all while he was teaching. He also questioned a many of the churches teachings. If the church had known he agreed with the Copernican theory he would have been killed. Galileo was a true hero.
