A toddler's physical growth in their second year will begin to slow somewhat compared to their first year but it will still increase steadily. The large muscle skill development dominate this second year, but there are still many subtle fine motor skills being accomplished. Most toddlers will be able to take steps unassisted and may even be learning to run. They will be able to stand alone well and be able to put objects into containers and stack two blocks. By 18 months they will run and enjoy climbing as toddlers have a natural inclination to climb. By 20 months they should be able to walk up steps if given the opportunity and build a tower of two to four blocks. By the end of their second year a toddler can typically jump, run well, kick and throw a ball and can build towers using six blocks. In their third year they can typically alternate feet when walking up and down steps, use a tricycle and sometimes with a bit of success they can dress and undress themselves.
