High School is all about popularity. Everything everyone does is based on their popularity. For instance, if you want to be popular, it usually means you can't join the chess club. Image is everything. If you're a punk, you've got to have the hair, the clothes, and the attitude. If you're preppy, you usually got to be rich to afford the clothes, cars, and friends. Even people who claim they don't care about it really do. High School is all about the image.
If I had to classify myself in a group, it would probably be with the skaters. The skaters are usually a really cool, laid back kind of group. Its hard to hang out with them though, because skater guys usually have the mindset of a three year old. They suggest stupid stuff, like jumping off someone's roof, stealing stuff from Savers, or riding their skateboards down the steepest hill in Kaysville. True skaters are usually sporting bruises and a couple broken bones.
The Preppie group is a little more reserved than the skaters. They are usually the people with the big houses, expensive cars, and maybe a couple of horses. This group definitely isn't as exciting, they prefer to sit around and play golf. Their idea of fun is spending the day at the Gap. They buy their fun rather than using their imaginations to come up with something. .
Then there is the church group. The group that is always happy. They usually go bowling on weekends, in groups of course. They don't really follow fashion trends, opting instead for jeans and sensible shoes.
The punk crew is a pretty weird bunch. They do everything for attention. Their clothes are dirty, ripped, and patched. It's preferable to not bathe for a couple days as this adds to the image. You have to have metal in everything, necklaces, belts, wallet, bracelets...
