ident as is their jealousy. To add to this, there is a theme of outward appearances, especially in the form of material objects. Things like the courtesan's ring, the gold chain, and the thousand marks that Egeon needs to save his life all give the play a sense of money as being important. There is a definite distinction between the rich and poor characters as well.
             Nontraditional casting was an element in this play because Luce, who is a woman character, was played by a guy. This worked very well because the role was particularly funny, and so it only made it more fun that a male was actually playing it. He acted overly-dramatic and really stole much of the humorous parts of the play. All of the rest of the parts were played by the same sex as the characters. To follow the plot and themes, the mood had to fit in just right. The mood for this particular act was chaotic in the beginning. Towards the end, however, as more and more humorous elements and confusion are introduced, the mood changes to a more happy and lighthearted one all the way
