urce that provided me with interesting facts and statistics as well as leaders in each of the sports covered.
This book proved to be a good source of the who's who in many different sports as well as a brief description of each. This book also covered the development of the different sports into what they are today.
The final source that I used was „Sports Illustrated". As many are familiar with, this magazine is considered to be the "granddaddy" of sports magazines. This gave me valuable information of news and historical happenings with any given sport. The covers of „Sports Illustrated" are considered to be collectors items and honor for those whom are fortunate enough to grace them. Overall SI provided me with valuable interviews with players of certain sports as well as recent news and information.
As one might already be aware of, there are many valuable resources regarding sports in general over the Internet. The three sources which I decided on proved to be valuable sources of information. The first source was Hickok's Sports History. (www.ultranet.com/~rhickok) This site had everything. It covered the history of any given sport. I was able to find many articles about the development of sports in America throughout the years. A great introduction to the site, the main page starts with a description of Willie Mays' great catch in the World Series. Overall a very valuable web site and would recommend anyone remotely interested in the history of sports to review Hickoks web page.
The other two electronic sites were ESPN's SportsZone (www.espn.com) and CNNSI (www.cnnsi.com). These two sources covered the latest information in any and all sports. They both give great information including up to the minute reports on any trades, scores, fantasy leagues, and articles about all sports. These two sites are spin-offs of two cable network sports stations which cover the same information as the web sites.
