The Great Awakening

The Great Awakening effected many people, in many ways. During the Great Awakening thousands of sinners were saved and converted, as well as many believers in Christ changing their lives. The colonies had a new heart for the missions, new colleges were founded to train men in the work of God, and the colonists hearts were prepared for the freedom ahead of them-both spiritually and politically. Because of this great revival, Christianity played a huge role in people's every day lives. Music became an important part of worship, and the hymns became a part of everyday praise. The revival promoted positive efforts on the colonist's part in humanitarian efforts. Two of the great preachers of the time were Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefeild. These two men helped convert many people, and shared God's saving message with thousands. There are many similarities between now, and then. I feel we are in need of an awesome revival in the United States, because so many people have no idea about God and all that He has done for us. So many people are dieing today and going to hell, because no one will speak up and start an amazing restoration of the faith our country was founded on. The differences between then and now, I feel, are that many of our preachers have an incredible heart for the Lord, although I don't know the hearts of all, I feel like the preacher's I've had conversations, and encountered in my life have all had such an amazing love for Christ, that they have no other want then to share that with others. I just hope that one day we can all come together and speak out for the kingdom of Christ.
