r months and even years. You see when there is bad winds loose dirt you kind of get a problem of not being able to grow crops. If this is the only way a family in the country has to make a living, well then they don't have much anymore. The family that we will go through this journey with is the Joad family containing a mother, father, grandpa, grandma, an uncle, four sons, and two daughters, plus one daughter is married and pregnant. What to do now? You have no way of earning profit especially when there isn't much other work to do. So you pack up and move west that's what you do!
             It all started in the town of Sallisaw Steinbeck writes about how things are in town from the start you start to feel bad for all of the people that had to go through the depression. Next we meet a hitchhiker by the name of Tom that comes home after getting out of prison. He has to get a ride on a truck that doesn't allow other riders. After he gets off he comes across a preacher whom he's known since he was little. He's the symbol of all of the religion in the story and how it can be a thing people believe when it's going good and throw away when it's going bad. Not everyone the Joad family seemed to keep his or her sense of religion throughout the story. When Tom and the preacher finally locate the rest of Joads they pack up and all twelve move out west in one little jalopy. See you later Oklahoma it's time for the golden state of California. The family must now realize that it's going to be a lot of hard work and those Californians are a lot different than they are. Also they need to know that it will be hard to get accepted when you are living in poverty.
             The first stop that the Joads made, gave them an idea that they might not be able to get a job when they get to California, because of all the jobs are already taken. But things could be worse they at least have a car and enough money to pay for gas...
