Book Report-Of Mice and Men

Of Mice and Men, is about two drifters trying to make ends meet by moving from one job to the next. The two main characters, George and Lennie are the complete opposite in every way: Lennie is gigantic in size and George has a smaller build. Lennie has a big heart and would do anything for anyone and, with the exception of Lennie, George is just looking out for himself. Lennie is a slower mentally, and George is more intelligent. The two main characters have been friends since they were young, and when George's aunt died, her last dying wish was for George to watch after Lennie. Even though Lennie can be a menace, George found it his duty to take care of him. They have this plan; they plan to save up enough money to gain their own piece of land and start their own farm, instead of working on someone else's. First they had to earn enough money, though. And to do that, they must first work at a ranch. There were a few mishaps at the ranch, including Lennie getting into a physical fight with the boss' son, Curley, but nothing could compare to the climax of the story. While trying to calm down Curley's wife by restraining her, he accidentally broke her neck and kills her. He didn't know his own strength. While all the men are after Lennie, George finds him first. At the very end of the story, George is telling Lennie the plan to get their own farm, and he shoots Lennie in the back of the head and kills him.
