esulted in a devastating crash. In the following years, the government did not pass any new laws, but revised many laws and kept an eye on the nations airport security measures. It was not until 1990 that the government would create another act that would strictly enforce airport security.
             The Aviation Security Act of 1990 was monumental to ensuring passengers safety in the aviation system. This act contains twelve basic rules that airports of the United States and around the world would need to improve in order to achieve the hope of security in the skies. In summary, the twelve rules of the act state that the safety of passengers against terrorists would be amongst the governments highest concern, and that current securities, at the time were unable to provide the amount of protection necessary to ensure protection from terrorism. The act went on by saying that the United States Government needed to promptly begin to apply the regulations set for protecting the airports, begin to comply with all international airports as well as foreign governments to ensure safer airports. The act then states that the government must "ensure the enhanced security measures are fully implemented by both the United States and foreign airports." The last area covered in this act states that "the United States must have the national will to take every feasible action to prevent, counter, and respond to terrorist activities." The Aviation Security Improvement Act was the first serious attempt at truly creating a safe airport environment, or so the government thought.
