I think you've probably already noticed the length of this letter and are probably thinking that you won't have time to read it and that it's not important. Just so you know, this is not one of those letters with a joke and a funny picture at the end. This is something I want you to read and seriously take into consideration. I'm telling you this in a letter because I know that if I was to approach you at home and try to discuss it with you, you'd only turn your head, laugh it off, and crack a joke. And then everything would be good and we'd find a movie to watch on television. Well, I don't want that to happen. No jokes and no laughing it off. What I have to tell you is important.
             I've noticed something about you. Actually, I've always noticed it, but I knew that if I were to bring it up you'd feel uncomfortable. Yes, not many sons and moms have the kind of relationship that we have. But as good as our relationship is, there's one thing that neither one of us is good at and that's having a serious discussion. As I said earlier, I've always notice you've had a problem. Your problem is that you never want to talk about something that I want to talk about. When the conversation steers itself to certain topics, you avoid them. When something comes up that you don't want to talk about, you get a distant look in your eyes, then you crack a joke, and just like that, the subject changes. Everything's normal again. Nothing's wrong. Everything's fine. So again, this is why I'm writing this letter. I'm hoping that you will want to face some of these issues and be able to talk about them with me; no jokes.
             I didn't write this letter to tell you I'm gay. I know that you know, and you know that I know. There's no hiding it anymore. And truthfully, it's pretty obvious in my mannerism.
