             bearing down on us, slamming into us with all the force of a speeding locomotive. The horrendous wall of winds crashed against our tiny apartment like an exploding bomb!" This model scenario of the coming of the storm was experienced by the residents of South Dade, and later Homestead Florida. The news report gave these residents only seconds to pack their bags and get out of South Dade. Unfortunately, all they could do was watch the storm take all their belongings, including their glorified mobile home built to withstand speeds of 90mph into pieces across the swampy marsh of south Florida .
