Memories (poem)

As cold as the life being drained from each veins of his weary body. Was life fairly warned?
The once so beautiful harbor was not so,
its waters, once as blue and clear as the future he had planned, was now a trademark of defeat.
The incoming waves came from the valiant Pacific like death crawling through a graveyard; coming to carry along with its recession the impurities of the dead.
Impurities so large in mass that not even the vibrant waves could draw in at once.
They gathered as fast as the bullets fired in the side of monuments.
Everyone scrambling to their stations to defend their honor but their opponent was relentless and stormed in like a hurricane destroying everything in its path.
Could there have been a way to prevent this?
Before this terrible ordeal, day had light and white bodies streamed the streets.
Now, dust was day and the color red swamped the harbor and wooden boxes were now to parade the streets.
Enemy approaching! But the warning was too late.
All metal havens, once statures of empowerment and homes to thousands of potentials
Now lie dead like the men in their watery graves.
Could there have been a way to prevent this?
The beauty is now gone and what a proud defeat declared on one side,
             Cowards! Cowards! America declared.
The engine was burning like that of what was drove the men to do what they had to do.
Bombs away! Each to remind them of their lost companions.
In the end, 150,000 lives were dissipated.
There were no boxes and no one to parade through the streets.
Justice may have been too harsh but a clear message was sent across.
America was not a country to rival with.
Could there have been a way to prevent this?
The answer lies in your interpretation.
