Someone once said that the pen is mightier than the sword. Its practical
meaning is that knowledge is greater in force than brute strength. In this case it has a
lot to do with the life of Bo Brewster, a juvenile. His dilemma is that he can't control
his anger and explodes at everyone and anyone who gives him a hard time. But Bo
learns later on to control his anger and lead his life in a more civilized manner. He
learns that ignoring negative emotions is the key to patience. Also replacing lies with
the truth proves to be another key factor. By far the most important factor is the
support you get from family and friends, it is irreplaceable and most emphasis on
anger management is put on this.
Ignoring negative emotions is the key to a healthy lifestyle. It is the
distinguisher of all. Some people don't have this unique trait and never will while
others like Mr. Nakatani and Lionel Serbousek do and it is contagious on them.
Perfect examples of negative emotions is judging a person on their sexual orientation,
in this case Mr. Serbousek. Also replying to prejudice remarks, and getting annoyed
and frustrated at your own father's short temper. In a conversation Bo had with Mr.
Nak regarding Mr. Serbouseks homosexuality, Nak asked if Serbousek had been a
heterosexual like he was before he revealed the truth to Bo, would it bother him at all
and would he even imagine Mr. Serbousek engaged in sex with a woman. To this
awkward question, Bo's reply was that no that it wouldn't bother him and he wouldn't
imagine Mr. Sebousek having sex with a woman. Although his answer was no, he
thought about it and it did bother him at the fact that Mr. Serbousek is gay. To that
Mr. Nak explains that Lionel Serbousek is as great a man as any heterosexual if not
