Thesis Essay on Hunting

             The characters in this part, "Hunting might not always turn out the way you want it to be". This is a short story called "The Most Dangerous Game", written by Richard Connell. Is about two hunters who were enemies becomes friends at the end. The short story, "The Most Dangerous Game" was a variety of literary devices to develop and sustain suspense.
             The setting of the story helps create a visual image in your head to show some things in which happened. The author describes the setting of the island where Rainsford stopped on. "Dense jungle came down to the very edge of the cliffs." This describes how the setting can show the affect on the story. Whitney states the awkward setting near the boat. "The old charts call it 'Ship-Trap Island'" (13). It describes the island where Rainsford learns a valuable lesson. By applying the setting in the beginning of the story, each reader can easily have a mental picture to where the story has taken place.
             The foreshadowing events help create a mysterious and surprising ending. Whitney tells the history of the mysterious island as a foreshadowing. "The place was a reputation – a bad one" (13). By explaining the history of the current island, it can also help understanding the past and the future. General Zaroff foretells the future by explaining one night's sleep. "`The other will sleep in thereby excellent bed on Guard Rainsford`" (30). This description state that one will be sleeping on the bed, but both cannot all fit, so therefore, so one must sacrifice and die. The foreshadowing helps readers want to read into more. It leads readers on and on and get the feeling of excitement.
             The mysterious mood helps create suspense in the story. The mood is described in great detail by the author. "The cry was pinched off short as the blood – warm waters of the Caribbean Sea closed over his head&quo...
