The Horseman on the Roof, is a French drama.The title of the film refers to an Italian man leaping and jumping from the roofs tops of houses in a French village.
             The film is directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau .He gives us a romantic, action pack adventure film with lashus countryside scenery to admir.The core of the movie is centerd around a deadly outbreak of cholera which is vastly taken the lives of the villege people.This devastating plague leaves those who have not yet been contaminated fleeing for their lives
             The story takes place in 19th century france, cholera epidemic.Escaping from Austrian assassins, Angelo Pardi (Olivier Martinez) an Italian officeren , who has turned revolutionary , is made to flee his home in search of safty for his life and to warn his other revolutionary friends in france of those who are after them.As Angelo Pardi travels through the country side of france he is face with the damage of what this horrible epidemic has done to the villege people.Because he is an outsider, the terrified locals accuse him of bringing this deadly death among their town and with the assassins on his tail as well Angelo ends up hiding, onthe top of roof houses.When all seems to be quite , he jumps from a roof top and comes crashing down througth the roof ,inside the house of a beutiful noblewomen Pauline de Theus (Juliette Binoche). With the help of Pauline ,Angelo is able to escape death.As the two flee out the coutry a love affair begins but is never brought to life because Pauline is married ,so this keeps them apart.
             This film explores the unlikely love affair between a young Italian nobleman and a wealthy older French woman which ends in suspense to whether their love is form or not .This movie includes a great set of actors, with costumes also to match . The story line also contributes to this wonderful french masterpeice.
