some people may be lacking the necessary skills of listening, and suggests that if someone realizes their listening skills are low that they practice them. He believes engaging in experiences where it is necessary to listen which will improve skills in this area, and also to challenges people to say the least possible in conversations to learn this as well.
             Black continues to point out aspects of the receiving step in listening. He presents an idea that people should focus their attention not only to the speaker's verbal communication but also to their nonverbal (174). In fact he says nonverbal is much more important and should receive a lot of attention. He says, "Notice how the other person presents themselves in terms of appearance and behavior" (155).
             Being able to understand the other person is another step in the communication process Black focuses on (140). He reports that relating to what the person shares makes them feel important and comfortable. He offers an example situation:
             "Man: I went on vacation tot he Mexican Riviera last year. I enjoyed the cruise very much!"
             Woman: I went on a cruise once, and it as my favorite vacation. I went to the Bahamas" (157).
             This makes the person curious to know more and will in term make you more interesting.
             In the third step of listening, remembering, he explains that men have a hard time doing this. He says that trying to remember and pick up on central ideas will impress women and even make them feel significant.
