Hypocracy

Hypocrisy is seen as much today as it was in the colonial period. Although we deal with different issues, nothing has changed. Hypocrisy is all around us from our own government, to trying to fit in, to prejudice people.
One of the biggest hypocrites in our day and age is our own government. A government is there to exercise the authority over an organization, institution, or in this case a nation. They are there to keep our country under control, and to set boundaries for what is right and what is wrong. Men and women go to prison everyday because they have chosen to sin against the laws of our land. Yet why is it that when our president commits adultery and lies under oath to our nation, and gets nothing but a slap on the hand. The government does not care about the extent of your crime if your name is well known.
A hypocrite is someone who pretends to be what he or she is not. I think that the mass pressures to bow down to conformity play some what of a role in hypocrisy. We cannot define what is normal and what is not, but everyone seems to have their own definition. If someone wants so badly to be accepted by a certain someone or group, they will do anything they can to fit in even if it means being something they are not. If they have to pretend like they are into drugs just because everyone else says it is cool, they will do it just to fit in.
Being prejudice and denying it is one of my biggest pet-peeves. Just because you have a bad experience with a black person or a Jew, does not make all of the race or religion bad. When you see a black person walking down the street that you have never met before does not mean that they are bad just because they look like someone you have hated in the past. We need to accept people for who they are and not what they look like.
All in all I don't think that we will ever know a day when a hypocrite will not be known.
