Try to imagine living in a fast-moving kaleidoscope, where images, sounds, and thoughts are always changing. You feel bored, yet helpless to keep your mind on what you are supposed to be doing. Unimportant sights and sounds are constantly grabbing your attention, and your mind drives you from one thought or activity to the next without stopping to think about it. For many people, this is what it is like to have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). In my opinion, ADD and ADHD are major disorders that need to be paid attention to not only in the classroom but in the workplace too. What is it like for those with ADD or ADHD in school or in the workplace? Kids in grade school often have a very rough time. Impulsively blurting out questions and answers without permission, or jumping out of their desk to go sharpen a pencil 5 times in one morning, are typical behaviors of kids with ADD or ADHD in grade school. A high school student might find classes that require a lot of attentiveness such as Algebra and or Biology very troubling. They might find school extremely boring and therefore put little effort into it, resulting in low grades, which further discourages them. Employees may find themselves in trouble with employers, due to not getting the job done on time or not finishing it all. Employees can also find themselves bored with their job and constantly doing things non-job related. These are just some of the problems faced by those that have ADD or ADHD.
             What are the causes of ADD and ADHD? This is one of the most frequently asked questions about the disorder to which there is no good answer. The causes of this disorder are not clear.
