             Katherine begins by calling women "simple." One definition that the Oxford English Dictionary gives for 'simple' is "Lacking in ordinary sense or intelligence; more or less foolish, silly, or stupid; also, mentally deficient, half-witted." This fits in perfectly if she were speaking the monologue seriously. She is ashamed that women are so foolish that they should be so difficult when their husbands are so good to them. To be so ungrateful and so unable to understand how well they live by their husbands' good graces, it would indeed make women appear simple.
