Cloning

up them into a couple of different categories, those who do it for themselves and those who do it for the benefit of others.
First reason is lets say that there is an infertile couple and they really want to have a child that they can consider their own, they might consider cloning. Some people may refer to this as the couple is just thinking about themselves because you look at the number of kids out there that need good homes, that the couple could adopt. The couple, on the other hand might look at this as an opportunity to have a child that is their own that they can love and look after. In adult DNA cloning all the couple would need is a little bit of DNA from the male and a fertilized ovum from the woman and they could then have the child they were longing for. One of the downsides to this reason is the fact that there is no guarantee that the child will turn out normal and not have some defect develop later on in its life. Another downside is the fact that the cells have a defined life span, which could mean a reduced life expectancy for the clone, this was actually brought up with Dolly and the fact that she basically had the cells of a six year old when she was born. A big argument against this type of cloning is the fact that the fertilized ovum is considered by many religions to be a full human person and when you remove the nucleus during the procedure, you in essence commit murder.
A second reason is the fact that parents want to have a talented child, and cloning may allow us to do this in the future. The downside to this is the fact that should people really be allowed to play God and clone only talented people or people who look a certain way? Another downside to this would be the fact that a country could try to pull off what Hitler did when he tried to create a "perfect race". This could be devastating in the fact that we could get rid of an entire race because they do not look a certain way or have certa...
