back in time and see Kane as a child playing with his sleigh and throwing snowballs. He is as happy and jubilant as we ever see through the film. Inside though his parents were making arrangements to give up custody of him and basically arranging the rest of his life and ending his childhood and innocence. This scene has a lot of importance in the context of theme especially since in my opinion it is what made Kane long to be a child again for the rest of his life.
