The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial of our times. People have many different beliefs on the subject. There are several pros and cons to abortions. People are either against it, for it, or somewhere in the middle. Some people believe human personhood begins at the instant of conception when a unique DNA is created. Other people believe that human personhood does not begin until their first breath is taken. I believe abortion had became one of the downfalls of today's society.
             The Bible appears to be silent on the topic of abortion, but doesn't really condemn abortion either. I think of abortion as being a form of murder. In the Bible it implies that the fetus is a human being. In another translation, it implies that the fetus is not a human being. I believe all children are gifts from God and there should be no such phrase as unwanted children.
             Why do most mothers decide to have an abortion? Most mothers think that they are too young to bring up a child; they think they may never have anybody to help raise the child. They also think they may not be financially stable to bring up a child. Basically, abortions give people an easier way to escape from the responsibilities of being a parent and are a violation of human rights. When this is done, I think it is unacceptable. Some cases may be acceptable such as a result of rape, woman becoming permanently disabled, or it could affect the woman or child's health.
             Many women don't know abortions are unsafe for them. Abortion can devastate the person who chooses to have one. There have been possible links between abortions and medical problems, such as breast cancer,infertility,miscarriage, and post-abortion syndrome (PAS). The younger a woman has a full-term pregnancy, the less chance she has of developing breast cancer. Late abortions usually require a material called Laminatia to dilate the cervix.
