This article was about how our president Bush has failed to do anything about the terrorists' attacks on September 11th of 2001. Now, over a year later, Bush has still not provided a set plan to counterattack Osama bin Laden's actions. When he failed to go in front of Congress after the damage had been done, when he failed to ask for a declaration of war, he only excited our enemies and encouraged then to flight on. After the last attack to the United States, Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt declared war. Our armies rushed into Berlin to fight the German. Now, over a year after this attack, our president is more a man of word than deed.
             I choose this article because it reflects how one man, who speaks for many, sees our condition and status a year after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. He states that our country has done nothing and that our president has failed because he has now said to terrorists that our country will do nothing. We raised security, and paid billions to enhance our fight to banish terrorism; however, we did not go to war against the attackers. Bush did not ask for war. This I do not completely disagree with, however. Because of the difficulty on what to do, to terrorize the nations in the Middle East because of one terrorist group or whatever else, I agree this is nothing to rush into.
             "You cannot lead a nation in war unless you are willing to strike the enemy at his heart." With the exception to Afghanistan, the Bush-Powell doctrine of the last year has been to ignore the enemy's center of gravity, avert your eyes from his citadel, do not go to his heart, busy yourself with lack of preparation, put rhetoric in place of action, and shoe bravely you paralysis. We knew six years ago that the Middle East had war like materials and were not on good terms with the US. Now after this has happened, we still choose to do nothing.
