Catcher in the rye report

Summary: The story is still being introduced. The setting is an icy winter in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. It takes place at Pencey Prep, a school Holden just got kicked out of. He is the coach for the foiling team. He's not really what you would call a bright guy. He's been kicked out of many schools in the past. He is getting ready to visit one of his teachers.
Personal Response: I find this book very interesting. The author, J.D. Salinger, clearly has a great and unique sense of humor. The way the book is written is so sarcastic. I broke up in laughter a few times. The main character, Holden Caulfield, is a real smart-allec, back-talking type of guy. Along with his quick remarks, the book is amusing.
Analysis: Basically everything in this chapter is important, since it is introducing everything and everyone. I think what's most important in this chapter is just getting to know the main character and his personality. Holden Caulfield is a very sarcastic, never serious, funny guy. He is being kicked out of his school, Pencey Prep, because of bad grades.
Questions: How old is Holden? Where is he going after he departs?
Predictions: I guess Holden will go to his parents' house and break the new to them. Also, he has been talking about his brother, and how nice he has it, so maybe he will visit him. I will take a stab at my questions. I think he is at least 18 to be kicked out of so many schools.
Quotations: There are many quotes Holden said in this chapter that struck me. Many of which made me laugh. The introduction to the book is very interesting and immediately introduces you to Holden. " IF YOU REALLY want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know...
