What is terrorism? Although terrorism has been around since the dawn of time, its meaning has intensified over the past century. Terrorism is widespread all over the world, including the United States. Terrorism can occur in many different forms and usually occurs when one ethnic group is offended by another ethnic group. Each terrorist organization is broken down into different cells. These cells have no contact with each other, just the leaders of the terrorist organization. The common stereotype of a terrorist in the United States is unacceptable, while in other countries parents are pleased if their kids become terrorists. There are multiple cells that are all over the world. By definition, terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or government, often for ideological or political reasons.
             Terrorism has evolved from anarchy to create a hatred of terrorists in the United States. Anarchy dominated the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century. Two of the major strikes in the late 1800s were sabotaged by anarchists. In 1886 at Haymarket Square in Illinois, strikers protested for an eight-hour workday. An anarchist threw a bomb towards the police officers, and several cops were injured and a couple died. Cops opened fire on Haymarket Square and numerous innocent civilians were shot. Seven anarchists were sentenced to death for starting the terrorism.
             The Homestead Strike in 1892 occurred in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was also disrupted by an anarchist. At a steel mill run by Henry Frick, strikers protested because their labor contract was expiring. The protest turned violent when the river next to the mill was lit on fire. Then an anarchist stabbed and shot Henry Frick, who barely lived.
