What I liked about this story was that we learned a lot about the main character lives before the story really got started. We know how they met and that they had interwoven lives from an early start. I liked that the women shared the history with us so that we got to know what was going on in their minds as the story progressed. We knew why Mrs. Slade was so envious of Mrs.Ansley and how they impacted each other. I liked that the author described their surrounds with such a sense of wanting the reader to know just how beautiful it was to be in Rome and how peaceful it was. These women were enjoying just being where they were. I liked how there was not a lot of action going on and how there were not too many characters in the story to confuse it.
             I didn't like how the author didn't tell us much about the daughters. They were introduced in the beginning of the story and then we never heard from them again. They were left hanging. I didn't like how we really didn't know why the women were in Rome, did they live there or were they just visiting. I didn't like how the women just basically just sat at that café the whole story and didn't even really talk. Most of the time one woman was sewing and one was just staring off into the Roman sky. I really didn't care for this story much. I would rather read something with a bit more action or more of a real plot to it.
             1. Was Barbara also Slades daughter?
             2. Did they live in Rome at the time or were they on vacation?
             3. Why did Mrs. Slade wait so long to find out the truth about her husband and his relationship to Mrs. Ansley
