             Pip is a naive childish young boy with a very good imagination. He has a guilty conscience, as Mrs. Joe keeps on reminding him that if it wasn't for her, he'd already be dead in the churchyard. Due to his later wealth this guilty conscience disappears. The convict isn't as violent as he seems to be and Pip therefore shows compassion towards him by bringing lots of food.
