"Messier passes to Gretzky, Gretzky is flying up the right wing he shoots! HE SCOOOORES!!" the annoucer on the tv yells as everyone in the room jumps to their feet cheering wildly. Life being part of the sports fan culture begins. No sitting idle, passivly watching the game on TV. Every minute is nerve wracking and every second nail biting. I can't bear to watch but can't risk missing a second of the action. It's not just watching sports I love but playing them as well, whether it's a pick up game of football with friends or an organized Little League baseball game. It's not always fun and games to love sports this much because I assure you the blood, sweat and tears are real.
The person I interviewed was my uncle Steve. I chose to interview him because he is the biggest sports fan i know. He is also the guy who first got me interested in professional sports. When I saw how much passion he had for the game and how happy he was when his team won and how utterly devastated he was when they were defeated I wanted in. I began to watch more and more games on television until it was only natural to watch highlights of the match's that day and read about them again in the morning paper. As i was saying before, I had chosen Steve to interview and started off asking basic sports questions such as "What's your favorite sport? and team?" "Are you a "face-painter"?" and things to that nature. He answered them politly knowing I already knew the answer to most of these questions and i was just setting up for more intresting questions.
As the interview wore on I discovered some intresting thoughts of the hardcore sports fan. I had asked him how he had become such a sports fan and he told me it was the superstars that he grew up watching that made such an impact on him.
