American Hero: Politically Correct or Historically Accurate

11, 2001 the World Trade Center was attacked. But more than just New York City was threatened that day; the American spirit was challenged. Terrorists wanted to see American citizens running in terror and confusion as their world came crumbling down, literally, in front of them. Instead, members of the New York Fire Department, and the New York Police Department, as well as countless nameless faces, risked their own lives to help their fellow Americans, whose skin color was covered by gray ash. Our definition of hero was again redefined that day – or rather, it was improved. Not only was it rising up in the face of adversity, but also the risking of one's own life for the chance to save another.
             The story of Superman was written long before the terrorist attacks on America. In fact it was even before the time of political correctness, affirmative action, and equal opportunity employment. Nowadays it seems all minorities must be represented regardless of whether or not they are actually present.
