Should we fight a war against Iraq, a thought that has crossed the minds of many Americans this past year? Do we take the side of our leader and stand up for ourselves, or do we do nothing and leave ourselves open for attack? I agree with President Bush. We are the United States of America, one of the strongest military countries in the world, why should we let Saddam Hussein make a mockery of us?
             I understand that many of American lives would be lost if we declare war on Iraq, but think of how many innocent lives were lost in the attacks on September 11? At least if we go to war lives will be lost with some dignity, and people will be dying for their country instead of in tragedy. Speaking of the mounting evidence that Iraq is amassing weapons of mass destruction, Sanger and Bumiller maintain, "To assume this regime's good faith is to bet the lives of millions and the peace of the world in a reckless gamble"(Sanger and Bumiller, "Threat of War Is Implied but Not Stated" New York Times 13 September 2002: A1).
             Why do we have an army if we are always afraid to use it? The United States has put to together a very well organized Army, Navy, and Air Force that everyone seems to be afraid to use. Everyone is worried about the number of casualties that could occur if we go to war against Iraq. Why not consider all the lives that could be innocently lost if another terrorist attack occurs?
             "And a regime that has lost its legitimacy will also lose its power"(Sanger and Bumiller, "Threat of War Is Implied but Not Stated" New York Times 13 September 2002: A1). We are known as one of the strongest military countries in the world, if we let all these terrorist attacks happen without repercussions we will lose our legitimacy.
