I have heard the Beatitudes mentioned in almost every religion class I have participated in, and their popularity has left me to wonder what place the Beatitudes hold in today's world especially for teens. I think it is possible for teens today to live the Beatitudes. Living the Beatitudes can be part of almost any aspect of teenage life. Today, I believe teens are able to exemplify living the Beatitudes primarily as peacemakers and caregivers.
             "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."
             Almost everyday teens are able to act as peacemakers. As friendships and bondings become of great importance in high school, conflicts may often result within social groups. For example, as group of friends may show conflict, one individual within this group can become a possible peacemaker. By negotiating and mediating the argument, a possible resolution can be reached to achieve peace. Such problems occur in high school all the time, and it is left to the teen peacemakers to help to maintain peace.
             "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
             In addition, in the high school community teens are able to act as caregivers. Within the Pope John community teens are able to contribute to a variety of merciful activities. For instance, in the month of November alone teens can contribute their time, food, and clothing to help the less fortunate. By participating in such activities, teens are able to live the Beatitudes as caring individuals.
             These are only two examples of teens living the Beatitudes in today's society. Living the Beatitudes can often be hard for teens, as peer pressure becomes a determining factor. However, living the Beatitudes is possible in any kind of society if one is willing to try.
