Lazaro

             After he left the blind man, he went to a town named Maqueda. Lazaro met a priest there. He asked the priest for help. Lazaro told the priest that he knew how to help in church, so the priest took him in. The priest was a miserable old man. Lazaro was still hungry. The priest was very greedy. He barely gave Lazaro enough to eat. But he manages to spend five copper coins for his every meal. Lazaro was very skinny now. But he could not do anything. He wished that a person could die every day so he could have more food. But he feels badly after. One day a man came to the church and asked Lazaro if there was anything that needed to be fix. Lazaro think up a plan. He asked the man if he could open the priest's locked chest. Lazaro said that he had lost the key and was afraid that his master would beat him. So the man opened the chest. Then Lazaro said he could take what is inside of it. So the man took the bread in the chest and left. He also gave Lazaro the key to open the chest. So from then on, Lazaro would finally be able to steal some food from his master. But soon, his master was suspicious and was more careful about it. Lazaro could not steal any more bread from his master. So he thought of a plan. Since there were holes in the chest, he made it look like the mice had stole the bread. So when the priest found that his bread was missing, he thought the mice did it. The priest then put wood on the whole to keep the mice out. But at night Lazaro held up a knife, and he would hit the chest. He created a big hole in the chest. He would then that the bread inside and eats it. The priest then asked his neighbors to borrow mouse traps. But the mouse trap doesn't work. He suspected that it was a snake that have been eating his bread. So he is even more cautious now. Lazaro now keeps the key in his mouth. He thinks the priest might find it. But one night Lazaro slept with his mouth open. The key ...
