Discrimination against others is wrong, and that is what the Virgin Island people tend to do when change is needed or brought in from someone who is not of "Virgin Island blood".
             After reading the article in which Dr.Paul Leary responded to, I understood what he was trying to say in regards to the limited amount of diversity in our political system. In my opinion, when people form the Eastern Caribbean islands venture to the Virgin Islands, they come in search of a better way of living, a better way of raising their families; they are trying to get ahead in life, and when the so called "born here" see their progress, they begin to put them down, spread lies about their businesses and even boycott them because they are not of "Full Virgin Island blood."
             Take for example the Arabs and East Indians who own shops in downtown Charlotte Amalie, majority of the stores are owned by them. Space has always been available to do business, but as soon as they come in the "born here's" tend to want to put them out of business. I say; "If you wanted to do business there, why wait until someone else takes the space, makes good profit then complain and try to get then out", it is ridiculous. Our generalizations on others tend to make them run away or seclude themselves form us.
             In the article Dr. Leary mentioned that the people who come from the Dominican Republic are very important to the Virgin Islands. He is right, they are of much importance too the Virgin Islands because it lets us to show that we want to expand our horizons, culturally.
             If the Virgin Island people continue to discriminate against people of different race or background, then our existence as "The world's Best Vacation Spot" will be taken from us due our ignorance and pigheadedness.
