What Crito was basically about was true friendship. In summary Crito, a long time friend of Socrates comes to see Socrates in the holding cell or prison as he awaits his execution. But the execution can't take place until the state galley returns from an annual religious mission from Delos.
             Crito comes to the aid of his friend in hopes to save his life. He tries to convince Socrates to escape from the jail, to evade his execution. Crito uses various methods and tactics to convince Socrates that leaving or running away would be in his best interest.
             Crito starts of by saying that he and a few others have pooled some money together and have all the resources necessary to pull of the escape. But Socrates refuses. The next tactic Crito uses is self-pity saying that the general public will look down upon him (Crito) for not bailing out his own best friend because he is too cheap. Socrates replies by stating that it doesn't matter what the public thinks, it only matters what one's self thinks of themselves and to be true to one's self.
             Crito then tries another method he brings up Socrates children and the fact that he is abandoning them and they will have no chance of being well educated. Socrates replies by saying that the state will take care of them or even that Crito himself could take care of them.
             Then Crito starts wondering if Socrates even cares about his friends and if he cares about how much effort his friends have put into his escape. Basically he is playing a guilt trip on Socrates but it doesn't work.
             Basically for every reason Crito has for an escape is shot down by Socrates through simple beliefs and reasoning. He counter acts to everything Crito says and even makes Crito into agree with him about reasons of why not to escape.
             In the end Crito gives up and Socrates reassures himself he is doing the right thing by not escaping. For every reason he gives Crito on why he shouldn't esc
