The argument of legalizing marijuana is akin to the age-old battle of Creationism vs. Evolution, because everyone has his or her own opinion. In my opinion, marijuana should be legalized. "I didn't inhale," was President Bill Clinton's reply when the news asked about his experimentation with marijuana. Over seventy million Americans, including President Clinton, admit to smoking marijuana. I think that legalizing the use of marijuana would have medical benefits, economical benefits, and crime benefits.
             Those in favor of marijuana legalization are groups such as Physicians Association for AIDS Care and National Lymphoma Foundation. They argue that marijuana should be legalized in order to treat terminally ill patients. Glaucoma sufferers who have used marijuana said it has prevented them from going blind. Cancer patients use marijuana to alleviate the severe nausea that often accompanies chemotherapy. "Marijuana is the herbal preparation of cannabis sativa that has many vocal proponents who support its medical use for refractory neurological symptoms, pain, tremors and sleep disorders (Wingerchuck)." As opposed to other pain medications, most people who smoke marijuana never become dependent. No one has ever died from a marijuana overdose, which cannot be said of most other drugs. Also lung cancers involving only marijuana are rare.

             The impact marijuana legalization would have on tax revenues would be dealt with in two ways.
