Discrimination in the workplace
This paper will talk about discrimination in the work place. There are
many types of discrimination in the work place. There is racial, religious, age, disability
and sexual. All of these will be covered in this paper. The reason I choose this topic is
because when I looked around the room of my class I noticed that most of the students
are minorities. As college students and aspiring leaders of tomorrow discrimination will

The first type of discrimination I would like to talk about today is racial
discrimination. Unfortunately this is the most common kind of discrimination in our
country. Chicagolegalnet.com says that "It is unlawful to discriminate against any
employee or applicant because of the individuals national origin. No one can be denied
equal employment opportunity because of birthplace, ancestry, culture, or linguistic
characteristics common to a specific ethnic group.
The next type of discrimination that I would like to talk about is
religious discrimination. Since September 11, 2001 this type of discrimination has taken
center stage with all businesses, for the well being of our Muslim people.Coorporate
America is usually more sensitive to religious issues than any other. Thanks to laws
passed by our U.S. government entitling people to freedom of religion. M.Staver says
that "In addition to accommodating one's religious belief an employer should not
discriminate based upon one's religious belief. An employer should not make
discriminatory rules, employment practices, or employment decisions that revolve around
one's particular religious belief.
