The plastic ball is an older type of ball, but is still common today because it is a good ball for children to learn to bowl with because it is cheap. It can also be used as a spare ball for an advanced player because it goes straight. Then there is the urethane ball which is not made any more. This ball is just a plastic ball with a cover of urethane on its surface so that it would hock. The newest type of ball is the resin ball. This is the most common type of ball today because it will hock the most out of the three kinds of balls. (Going for the Gold 2)
             There are also sub categories of balls as well. The sub categories are dull and shine. All three kinds of balls can be dull or shine. A dull ball is sanded to make the ball create more friction with the lane so the ball will hock more. Since it is sanded the ball actually looks dull so it is called dull. The shine ball is called shine because it has a finish on it that makes it shine. The finish is usual a polish or a wax. This finish is put on the ball to make the ball hock less. The finish makes the ball hock less because it creates less friction between the ball and the lane. (Going for the Gold 2)
